"A 5-Year Old Can Make Their Own Choice"

Amazing, but I've never heard a parent say that except when the child was 'choosing' exactly what the parent wanted. You just don't hear a lot of parents saying "My five year old wants to...juggle knives...skydive...not attend school...and they can make their own choice."

Zelda wanted to be a Movie Star when she was five. I told her if she still wanted to do that when she was grown I'd be behind her 100%. She never brought it up again. Zelda wanted to be a hundred different things growing up.

Isn't it a parent's job to guide a child towards healthy behavior? Not to push them into fulfilling the parents dreams then, when they're called on it, they can't even take responsibility. It's the five year old's fault.
